During his fascinating career, Maurice has accumulated over 40 years of experience working in industrial relations and employment law. His skillset was conditioned to the highest standard during his service with the Australian Government solicitor (1979-2006), where a major part of his advocacy was in the field of industrial relations and employment law. He is regularly endorsed for his expertise in those fields, as well as his skill in developing policy, strategic HR and workforce planning. Alongside an extensive history advising the construction and manufacturing industries, he was also a member of the Queensland Government’s 2015 Industrial Relations Reform Reform Reference Group whose work led to the Industrial Relations Act 2016 (Qld).
Serving Ai Group as Manager, Queensland Workplace Relations, Maurice oversees ‘just about everything,’ and he highlights as his key areas of practice enterprise bargaining, advising on union right of entry matters, dealing with protected and unprotected industrial action, and representing companies to conciliate disputes and claims. He also provides invaluable insight into the dynamic of union organisations, following extensive periods of close observation.
‘the best way I assist businesses is by keeping them out of courts, which can be achieved by dealing with the facts in the most direct manner and presenting the company’s case strongly to the other parties.’
